What is Hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy is an evidence based therapy with over 70,000 research references worldwide, but which is often misunderstood by the public. Hypnosis is a perfectly natural state of mind that we all go in and out of several times a day. For example, when you're driving a familar route, daydreaming, watching tv or doing something creative.
During hypnosis, your body and conscious mind are relaxed, allowing your subconscious mind to be open to suggestion. The subconscious mind is the part which deals with our emotions and our creativity. It's the part that deals with our automatic functions such as breathing and pumping blood around our bodies, as well as all of our habits that we often perform on autopilot - both good and bad! It's also the part of our mind that remembers everything we've ever heard, seen or felt - even if we can't recall these memories consciously.
